Why Mercury?
At first, I was very uninterested to cosplay Mercury. She probably has one of the most uninteresting color schemes (sorry, Merc!) being literally all blue, but the more I thought about it, the more I started to relate to her. Uh, aside from being super smart. I'm artsy, but not smartsy! Haha, but she's a bit shy and quiet, like me, but if you mess with her friends, she'll fiercely defend them!
She's also a bit delicate in her motions, which came very naturally to me. I always had a harder time pulling off Mars's very confident poses, or Jupiter's more powerful ones, so Ami's demeanor all came easy for me!

About This Costume
The suit is matte spandex, self-lined for ultimate opacity.
I used Firenze satin for all of the blue parts (skirt, collar, choker, and glove rolls, back bow) and Casa matte satin for the front and back bow. I made the outfit in the summer of 2017, but of COURSE Casa satin came out with an even more perfect blue for Mercury in spring of 2018, hahaha. Isn't that how it always goes? Now if only they would come out with a nice orange for Venus...
I went for a thinner manga style for my tiara, which was made using PETG plastic and spray painted gold, and it sticks on with fashion tape. The gem is a Swarovski crystal, and I made my brooch with resin casting.
I have tutorials on how I made the collar and front bow on my YouTube channel. I'm also adding more parts like how I did the skirt! I have two videos for the skirt up so far, but it's pretty involved, so it's broken up into a few videos. More tutorials will come soon- whenever my video editor decides to work again, hahaha
After making Sailor Mars and Neptune, and having a blast in doing so, I became quite the addict for making senshi uniforms and went on to create several more, including all of the inner planets, and most of the outer planets. Only the Moons and Saturn are left for me to do of the main sailor cast!
